The Medeiros e Almeida Foundation was created in 1972 under the Founder’s name, António Medeiros e Almeida who donated to his country, the house where he lived for 30 years, as well as, his art collection bought all life long which includes clocks and watches, chinese porcelains, paintings, furniture, goldsmithery and jewellery, sacred art, sculpture and textiles.
 
The Foundation aims the study, conservation, and disclosure of its collection through the publication of books, catalogues and studies.
 
 
 
The Collection
 
Out of the 2.000 objects on display, the House-Museum includes 25 galleries that reveal the personal and social experience of MA. The collectors preferences are unveiled by the two specific galleries that he erected to house the watches and clocks and the Chinese porcelain collections.
 
Several other collections are on display: Portuguese and French furniture, 16th and 17th centuries Dutch and Flemish paintings, 19th century English portraits, English silver, jewelry, French and Flemish tapestries, etc.
