The short film 'Cornelis' tells the story of Cor, a seriously demented person who lives in an old people's home. As a child he lived through the Second World War. This made a huge impression on him and as a result of his illness all the horrors have come back to haunt him.
'Cornelis' is a Graduation project made by me for my Master of Arts in the field of Animation in 2013
The story is partialy based on the stories my two grandfathers told me about the Second World War. When resurching for a topic for my short film I thought back on those stories, but realized I could not recall all the details. One of my grandfathers suffered from dementia by that time, so I could not ask him about it again. Therefore I decided to combine the stories and dementia into one narrative.
'Cornelis' played in competition on the International Shortfilmfestival Leuven in 2013. At the Filmfestival Oostende 2014, 'Cornelis' was nominated for 'Best Animated Short'.
