Utilizing the simulation programs Ladybug, Archsim and DIVA, which are extensions through Grasshopper for Rhino 5, we looked at the existing environmental performance of the RISD Waterman Building, and proposed several solutions based on our research for how to improve its efficiency.

 

Our three proposed strategies were to upgrade the glazing of the fenestration, add solar panels to offset some of the roof's heat gains as well as providing some power for the building, and to implement a natural ventilation system to passively cool the building during viable months.
