Grampian Fire and Rescue Service
1. To help reduce wilful fire-raising, especially wheelie bin fires which usually happen as a result of antisocial behaviour. This takes resources away from potential incidents where lives are at risk, costs the city lots of money etc. Secondary wilful fires are a big issue in the city and wheelie bins being the most common type of fire, a banner could be solely targeted at this.
2. To help reduces accidental house fires. Persons under the influence or alcohol/drugs are more likely to be involved in cooking related incidents, get injured or even die. Cooking left unattended is a common occurrence. Smoking also is a factor as a cause; often linked to drinking. GFRS recommend getting a carryout on the way home from the pub – don’t start cooking!
