Perimeter Architects, the creative minds behind some amazing buildings in Chicago (including the new Ink Factory HQ), decided to give away a corner of their studio in West Town. We created a 100% paper engineered stop motion video for their new venture, Sardine Lab.

We made hundreds of paper cut outs – from smaller than a paper clip to bigger than Ryan’s head – and slowly moved each piece into place to create this video. Everything was filmed on a custom made sardine “key” that was over three feet long.
Visuals for each scene of the stop motion animation were designed in Adobe Illustrator.
After all the visuals were designed, each object was cut out of paper and assembled.
The key had several "tracks" along the top and bottom where paper could be inserted.
