The lid is located via blocks on the bottom of the lid. Cords for hanging the birdhouse route through holes in the lid to simplify the exterior. The lid lifts off for easy access and cleaning.

The birdhouse is constructed of laminated maple veneers with stained pine as the top and bottom.
