Create 3 products & form a brand

My final project at the university were to create a brand and three products that would fit into the range of products of two specific retail stores. The first store is a design store called Designtorget and the other is a store with focus on products that will help you to keep order in your life, called Ordning & reda. The assignment were also to create a system of packaging from primary to tertiary packaging and a visual identity for the brand.

Barrelhouse crocheted cases are a combination between modern design and a tradition of crafts and function. We used to create packages out of natural materials, materials which we braided into baskets or made barrels out of because that was the only alternative. Today we've got plenty of opportunities to find new ways to create baskets and barrels, and that has led to the point where crocheting has become out of date.

Barrelhouse design is created to contrast against the soft associations that you normally get from crocheting and similar crafts. The meaning of this is to give barrelhouse as a brand a younger and trendier look.

Since the cases are crocheted it doesn't need a design that states the obvious. It is a brand that is turn to people that is interested in design and culture. Barrelhouse's limited products are made of biodegradable paper-yarn and viscose, materials that are products of the forest industry. By promoting wood-based products we increase the forests potential to reduce our carbon footprint. The labels are black and white. The products with back labels are the limited ones, made out of paper-yarn, and the white are made of wool.

Because Barrelhouse's products will be sold mostly in online-stores I made an shipping box to protect the primary package from the sender all the way to the door. This was important because as an buyer you want the items to be in the same condition when you get them as when go buy it in an regular store.
