M/M aka Michael McGregor, best known from his outstanding releases of lo-fi techno on 1080p and sketchy experimentations on videogamemusic, is back this time with more ethereal tracks. Before We Lost Ourselves is a collection of two dreamy compositions in William Basinski’s infinite loop style. They were both recorded in 2011–2012 with Korg DSS1, Akai AK60, cassette tapes of field recordings, Roland SP-404, and a reverb unit. M/M recommends — “Drink some tea, then some liquor, maybe have a smoke, sit back, relax, and sink in”. A very pleasant music to play in the dark.
Robert Skrzyński, better known as Micromelancolié, is an extremely prolific artist with an unique style - mixing drones, field recordings, tape hum, found sounds and beats. Over the years he published his music on tape labels from all over the globe, such as Seagrave, A Giant Fern, Metaphysical Circuits and Chemical Tapes, just to name a few. For Czaszka Records he prepared five tracks of slowly moving textures, grim tape manipulations, haunted gamelans and cough serenades with a hint of bro-step. Imagine a dance party of manequines and skeletons — that’s how Leaving Hades sounds like.
