CookieDough is an experiment on an alternative game mechanic, for which a proof of concept was created in a javacript canvas.
The player controls a shape ("dough") and as other, smaller ones appear, must remove them by activating while positioned directly beneath them. Each time it does this, a hole equal to the removed shape is left, making it harde and harder to find space for the following shapes. The game ends when one of the shapes's timer ends before the player can remove it.
It can be played here.
