“Tradition simply means that we need to end what began well and continue what is worth continuing”
                                                                                                                                                         –Jose Bergamin

A significant portion of my mother’s family is associated with the military. Their careers range from medics and engineers to artillery and infantry. It has been a tradition to graduate from West Point and go on to serve in the military, in my family. For me, however, the thought of my cousins, aunts, and uncles being at war chills me to my bones. With this sculpture I intend to continue this path of tradition by contributing through art and architecture. Just like in art, you can advance by breaking old habits and traditions, and forge a new path.
