Dream Day Studio is a desktop app that was specifically designed for wedding planners to make their day to day task management easier and make their businesses more efficient.
I was briefed to create all branding elements, starting with the logo right through to the app UI design.
It was very important for the client that the design of the app was beautiful and user-friendly due to the nature of the target market. Wedding planners are highly visual and creative individuals but not always very tech savvy.
The client provided me with a prototype version of the app built with Twitter's Bootstrap. There were many UX challenges with the provided prototype that needed to be solved visually. The main problematic area was the various ways the user could filter their projects on the dashboard. As you can see from the prototype screenshot seen below everything was basically just dumped together without any hierarchy or contrast between the types of filters.
To simplify the ease of use I introduced a new way of filtering by adding a panel (on the left) to quickly switch between each couple's wedding. Seeing that most weddings can easily have up to 50 or more tasks, this was a better solution than showing entire task lists for all weddings that the planner was busy with in the main dashboard feed. The default dashboard view does however show all weddings with subtasks in the feed as seen below.
The top buttons have also been condensed into two featured buttons, namely "Manage" & "New".
Main filter's have been given strong contrasting color to really accentuate it's usage to the user. Quick filters have been hidden by default but the user can choose to toggle between the main filter panel and quick filters as per their preference.
The client wanted use lightboxes to manage the Clients and Vendors to make the app usage easy and quick

Once the core screens were designed for the app I moved on to create the frontend marketing website. The brief was to create a simple one pager website.
