Inspired by the Spring Festival itself, I named our work “the coming Nian”. The name came from the story that in ancient China people used fireworks to drive the Nian monster away and to wish a safe and peaceful new year. We built a sense of connection among the brand name, packaging image, multiplex functions and the product itself, which made the product and the package an integral whole and gave people a feeling of concise but powerful. The professor’s praised our work and said that the coherence of the fireworks and packaging was the biggest highlight.
The project brought me not only a practice of designing skill, but a deep thought about package as a media. Nowadays, packages are one of the main kinds of household garbage. However, the packages can be used as a part of the product in the future, which I consider as an inevitable trend for green packaging.
