Process - Forms in Nature

For my process topic I wanted to move on from mankind and look to nature for the subject. I decided to break down natural scenes into abstract shapes. After trying a number of different methods which where a lot more indicative of the subject, I opted for one that is less representative, using the colour scheme and vauge shapes to create an image indicative of an english winter scene.

To create this I took a series of photographs from outside and placed them up on a wall in a large grid. I then painted onto unprimed canvas, selecting elements of pictures to breakdown. I build up these shapes in order to create a composition, making up the image as I go along, letting the picture develop naturally.
