The Abnormal Quilin is an on going project I made since 2014.
I was inspired by my own love story back in high school year 2012-2013.
The moment which I captured in the 1st piece was when me and my partner dance together wearing the same custom.
The concept is Luna New Year. We were celebrate the festival together with other international students.
"Tết" í what we called Luna New Year in Vietnam.
During Tết day, there will be dragon dance, qilin dance, traditional food, fireworks and lucky money, so we did the same for our school festival even though we were in a different country.
And that night when my partner danced with me.
He was wearing a white Tshirt with jeans but a Qilin head, to dance the Qilin dance while our crew member dance the Dragon dance.
I was wearing a Hmong traditional clothes. I represent a part of my country and dance a Hmong song.
Therefore, until now, during the time I am living in America, I draw a new piece for The Abnormal Qilin every Tết.
I drew Qilin 1 and 2 in the same year 2013. However to match with the concept, I will wait until 2017's Tết to continue the series.
