Cell Covers
Developmental Cell is an edition of Cell Magazine, the leading scientific journal in the field of microbiology. The first cover illustration in the project was realized in 2015 with Max Perutz Institute for Microbiology of the Medical Faculty in Vienna, which published the latest achievement in the "Membrane Sculpting by the Nuclear Pore Basket" method. With this method a new form of cell nucleus was obtained, which looks as shown in the illustration. In the (still unilluminated) cell nucleus a “genetic engineer” was installed. He has fixed the generated form with his mechanic key. A particularly interesting part of the design of this illustration was the briefing with microbiologies.
