Altered State of Consciousness is an album designed to illustrate the spirit of Fifth Avenue’s music, a fictional five-member Indie Rock band based in New York City.
Vinyl records played a big role in the evolution of graphic design in the late twentieth century. Their covers allowed for a unique canvas reaching a large audience and setting a narrative for the artist. The mandate for this project was to design a LP cover and track list for a fictional artist. The design was to reflect the group’s image and sound.
Fifth Avenue is a band that offers a raw and edgy sound with lyrics that tell a story. Altered State of Consciousness reflects a transition from the real world and its linear, fast paced life, to an altered state of consciousness. This altered state being one that reflects on the imagination, creativity and illusion of a realm far and unaware of the external world.
