The ABE Steck-Vaughn Fundamental Skills series is a collection of books for grade levels 2-8 for adult education. While the content was basic, it was geared for an adult audience; perhaps for learners who need to refresh skills, or are learning a new language.
My idea for the series was to use 3 cool colors for the subjects, and then have jewel tone diamond shapes to differentiate the levels (Basic, Literacy, and Intermediate.) Over 25 books with 50-200 pages each covered Reading, Writing, Math, and the Instructor Editions with Lesson Plans and Answer Key.
This project was unique because I was able to use all of my skills into one project! I did design and production work on the covers and interiors for the series. I also managed the project and worked with contractors and production artists to keep the project on time. I also created graphs and charts, and managed illustrators to help with all of the art needs. We also organized and worked with the writers, editors, and copyeditors. We were able to manage converting all of the art to prep the series to go online as well.
This project was done with a company named Pearl Production, that specialzes in education materials: e-learning, books, as well as design and marketing materials. I've been working with them since 2009 and love it!
