Study Dynasty of Vijayanagara and Iconography of Virupaksha temple
The project involved studying the art and architecture of Virupaksha Temple and articulating the pattern in it, which would eventually help in creating "Digital Hampi".

This project, under DST (Department of Science and Technology) and in collaboration with other educational institutions, includes a detailed study of the dynasty and kings of Vijayanagara empire, identifying their contribution, and important events during their ruling period. This was followed by making a visualization which represents their ruling period, major events, contributions over time.

Another part of the study was to explore and document the whole temple complex of Virupaksha Temple(specifically pillars and plinth). This resulted in the discovery and articulation of our understanding of the grammar, with respect to the purpose and motifs in the architecture.

The latter part of the project included explorations, sketches and documentation of the iconography of pillars in Ranga Mandapa of Virupaksha temple and analyzing their layout, meaning, structure, logic and reasoning of the icons.
