The Metaphysics of Sisterhood
Linoleum print on Masonite

This piece presents the realities of sisterhood as responses to common outward perceptions of it. It relates to this year's theme through its use of multiples to build one sense of the essence of sisterhood and through its acknowledgement that there are multiple perceptions of things, a main difference existing between outside perceptions and internal, experiential perceptions. The piece is also about the idea of searching for and attempting to present the fundamentals of a relationship to the world. The work consists of sixteen original statements written from personal experience, paired with 16 linoleum carvings of images of my sisters and I from our childhood.
