Ring-a-ring O' Roses RETOLD

This is a sequential art project in which I retold the horror interpretation behind the famous nursery rhyme "Ring-a-ring o' Roses" about the Great Plague of England and related that to one of the ignored reality that has plagued Pakistani society, is the insane display of spending on marriages and how the groom's family tortures the bride to force her family to pay dowry in immense amount. Even if they can't afford it they take on large sums of debt upon themselves to fulfill the negative obligation of this society to protect their daughters marriage. But when it's not fulfilled, the groom and his family continues to torture the bride and finally she ends up killing herself or sometimes they kill her and make it look like a suicide. Leading to the girl suffering at the end no matter what happens. Usually she has no say in any matter even if it's related to her and is static to her emotions which is reflected in my book, how the bride stays in the middle with no change in her and the situations are revolving and altering around her through four scenes representing the four verses of the poem. Cartoons were my first inspiration when I was a child. They forced me to draw. I drew everywhere books, walls, faces etc! My passion for drawing is still alive in me and I want to illustrate the best stories around this world.
