In attempts to morph a French horn with a snail, I began with a newspaper armature for the shell. After the modeling of the shell was complete, I threw the bell of the horn and attached it once both entities were leather hard. Details were desperately needed; therefore, the valves, mouth piece, and eyes were modeled and attached through the process of sprigging. Once fired, the paint job was the last touch in order to effectively convey the morph process between horn and snail. 
This piece was granted a blue ribbon at the Indiana 4-H State Fair and second place at an art show sponsored by Tri Kappa Sorority and GCHS Art Department.
