Sochi Olympics - Female Athletes

I knew there was a lack of information being shown about women who were involved in the Olympics, so I wanted to find out how many medals did female athletes bring home, who they were, and in what categories the athletes brought the most medals home in. I found my answers through sketching with the given data, from there I did look into the women through the iternet to see if I could learn more about them and bring in imagery of them.
I learned a lot; I learned that the olympics were actually fairer than i would have expected. I learned that many women actually brought home more than one medal! Also learned Canadian athletes brought the most medals home to their country. As a result I have shown the data and knowledge I have known using the map as the focal point. I felt the map had a ton of data; Who the women were, how many medals they brought home, and which countries overall had the most medals brought home by women. I used information focusing on showing how each sport category compared in the amount brought home and also how many athletes competed in each category. With both sets of data you can now see that in some categories female athletes brought home more medals than those that competed in the event. This project brought to my attention new questions; How do the other Olympics relate to this? I would be interested in seeing how historically the Olympics have changed over the years and what this means for female athletes.
