Creating a logo for this event presented a challenge as there is a lot of type which needs to be present. It was also required for the logo to instantly imply the sport and gender that it is representing at a quick glance, so as to target the proper audience. Therefore, a unique application of typography creates the shape of the skate and the gender is implied through the colour usage, which in turn, creates a very bold and interesting visual. The poster is meant to grab attention and stand out from its surroundings via the powerful and unique logo image combined with the bold colours. It conveys its message quickly as the entire poster only consists of the actual information, designed with a dynamic use of typography. It has a gritty sort of movie poster feel to it to illustrate that this will be good quality hockey. The colour choices were made to create strong contrasts for an instant effect, highlighting the pink, in order to drive home the female aspect of the tournament.
