Interactive-experience terminal design for L'Olympia
L'Olympia's famous hall, offering almost 2000 sits.
Inaugurated in 1893, L'Olympia is one of the most legendary Parisian music-halls.
They first asked Extreme Sensio — Extreme group's digital agency — to design an interactive iPad application that would allow the spectator to leave the music-hall with a digital souvenir (selfie in the mythical great hall, or custom red-lettering frontage). Once the app was developed, they wished to go further into the user experience design and asked AdvanceDesign — Extreme group's industrial design agency — to come up with a wall casing that would fix, secure and hide the iPad, making a real interactive-experience terminal out of them; and visually blend into the music-hall atmosphere.

As a member of AdvanceDesign team at the time, I took part in the early steps of the creation phase, and then was in charge of the whole product design development process (from definition, modeling and mechanical design to prototyping, testing, validation, manufacturing follow-through, and to products delivery, setting up, and inauguration).
Ideation and design development process.
Low-poly design and shape definition.
3D modeling and product rendering.
Working prototype testing and manufacturing follow-through.
Final assembly testing.

What I did for L'Olympia, as an industrial designer at AdvanceDesign, makes me very proud. Not only I did carry out a complete product design project from A to Z, collaborating with digital designers, L'Olympia's staff and local manufacturers; but I even had the chance to come back to L'Olympia for several concerts after this inauguration, and to see the iPads' casings mounted on the walls of the main hall. I then was also able to see how people were using and interacting with the device I played a substantial part in designing and developing, which I felt was very rewarding.
For more information, here is the AdvanceDesign's web page that officially presents the project.
Note: I made up all the illustrations displayed here, which were also used by the company to communicate about the project with l'Olympia but also externally; and I took most of the pictures myself — the first two and the last ones excepted.
