XVIII Collection (Softgoods)

Apparel
XVIII is a personal project that brings together two of my greatest passions – enduring design and English literature. Based on the concept of timeless beauty presented in Shakespeare's Sonnet XVIII, the collection of leather bags and accessories was designed to improve with use – as each scratch and patina becomes part of the bag's story.
This is the prototype of the Prospero breifcase that I built for myself. I typically carry this with me when I go to meet a client.
The interior of the breifcase was built out of a light color leather – helping you too see what is inside of the bag. The pockets are lined with a custom-designed fabric featuring pages from Shakespeare's The Tempest.
The edges of the breifcase were stitched with red thread and finished by hand with wax and a hot iron. It gives the case a seldom seen touch of old world craftmanship. (Most edges on leather bags today are "rolled" to save time and money.)
