Fairfield Warde Dance Jam Poster Challenge
Assignment- Students will create a poster that will be used to advertise the upcoming “Warde Dance Jam” to take place at Fairfield Warde High School.
First, the student must come up with a logo that will represent the Warde Dance Jam. The recommendation is to do this in illustrator, just as you did the FPS logo.
Next, students will create a poster that is 13 x 19”. It can be vertical or horizontal. I advise that you do the logo on a separate document and begin your poster on a fresh “New” document using Photoshop or illustrator may be used. Remember to create a new file that is 13x19.
The poster must include:
1. All of the information that is required to be on the poster (listed below)
2. One photograph (from google images relating to dance) that is modified to look graphic in nature.
3. The logo that you are creating for the event
4. A reasonable color scheme
5. No typing errors
6. Good design balance and composition
The following information is required to be on the Poster.
Title of Event- Warde Dance Jam
Date of Event- February 20, 2016
Time – Event starts at 4:00 pm (Doors open at 3:00pm)
Where- Fairfield Warde High School
Admission Fee- $10.00 Adults, $5.00 for Seniors and Students, Free for Children under 3
Food and Refreshments will be for Sale.
Here are some helpful tips that might assist you in this process!
You may want to come up with a tag line. An example is “Come hang” on the poster of the shoes hanging on the rear view mirror.
There will be about 1000 people attending this event
19 acts have signed up so far.
At least 10 teams have signed up as of today.
The home school is not allowed to compete when hosting. They do what is called an “Exhibition Dance”.
Warde’s school colors are Black, White and Red
Warde Dance team is best known for Hip Hop.
Warde Dance team also does Jazz.
Both of their costumes are Black and White.
Multiple high schools will be performing on the day of the dance jam.
Trophies will be given out to the number 1 and 2 teams in each category.
The categories are Jazz, Hip Hop, Pom and Kickline…
You may want to look at Youtube and search for Fairfield Warde Dance team to get a feel for what they look like.
You may use google images to help you to create a poster. Consider using the posterize, image trace, threshold or use a sketch filter to create the image for the poster.

It might help to view image and then copy or do a screenshot by holding command (apple), shift and 4. Then you swipe over the part of the screen that you would like to copy.
The short cut keys are as follows-
Command a – select all
Command c – copy
Command v- paste
Command t- transform (hold the shift key)
You may use illustrator, photoshop or a combination of both programs.
You will print the poster on a 13x19 upon completion. All of these posters will be used on that day unless the information on our poster in incorrect.
