Toxicated sewers are swarmed by fading souls. Those mutated half human half insect creatures worn their masks so many dark days and dark nights that it became part of their body. They crawl into deep tunnels seeking lost souls, who have still some toxic material left with them. By collecting it those creatures extend their life span and gather more power.
