The Unspoken Issues of Modern America

Project Issue is about problems that are happening all across America.

I decided to explore a big idea of which had importance. Initially coming up with a concept of having objects in abnormal locations but it couldn’t just be that it needed a purpose. The big idea that followed was on issues of modern America that need attention. I created a list of issues and attached them to an object with initiations but no to obvious. The objects had to reflect and have commentary on the location as well as the location on the object to coexist but still be abnormal.

The end result is for the viewer to ask questions. I want the viewer to question things all around them. Becoming more aware of your surroundings.
Consumption
The ocean can not be tamed no matter how much you try to pick and scope it up with your hand you can’t. The shopping cart in the water shows someone who tried to contain and grab a slice of the pie per say. Instead the shopping cart being America got consumed by their stupidity to consume and consume for what. You do not need that new TV that bad
Education
The graveyard is a place were things have once lived but now lie dead. The backpack and books are a symbol of education. The combination of both tells a story. That education system has died. The American education system has failed.
Homeless
The alley ways are closely associated as a place were homeless live. The suitcase role in the photograph is as a symbol of travel. The destination of travel needed up someone in an alley way. The location builds context for the object to relate to. The homeless situation in America needs to be cleaned up.
Brainwash
The playground is a place were children play for some innocent fun. Children brains are still developing so they can be molded to act and learn a certain way. The TV being a tool to communicate information to people. That information is carefully expressed toward people to buy this, to do this, to think that. Your just trying to enjoy your favorite TV show. When you watch TV no matter what you watch your brainwaves slow down and make your brainwaves are less active. Combining both comments on the fact that peoples innocents as being children are warped and molded to think this and stay passive.
