DECC 2050 Simulator

Below is one of my favourite projects of last year, a simulator bought to the world by the Department of Energy and Climate Change. The point of the project was to create answers and some debate over how we all can improve our climate and energy reserves by the year 2050. As you use the sliders below the 3 slabs, the world changes and animates the effect you have made by adding or moving different elements. Your task is to reduce CO2 emissions and balance the scales of power supply and demand. Once you are happy with your solution, you could submit your world and begin a debate over the connected forum.

The project was built in flash and involved a lot of image manipulation and animation. Once released, the simulator was played over 80,000 times! Mostly thanks to it being featured for a week on the BBC news website and social media shares.

Use the simulator for yourself at http://my2050.decc.gov.uk/
There were a few different versions of the mechanism to run the game, and here is another early design showing a scale system in order to balance CO2 emmissions.
