Slit-Space: slit-scanning explorations in real-time

A film documenting my project, Slit-Space: slit-scanning explorations in real-time, 2015
This project was my first attempt to take slit-scanning, the photographic technique of printing out a slit of space as it changes over time, to the next level. Photographers have more or less failed to take the technique beyond the bizarre, beautiful still photography of the 1950s and '60s, so I wrote a program and designed an installation to produce an interactive, real-time slit-scanning environment, in which viewers could become image makers themselves. I invited people to engage with this relationship between screen, camera, and process as a way to allow them to rethink their bodies and movements.

This project was merely the launching point for my current work. More to come.
