A handcrafted Designer Toy in 100% resin

In April 2011, I made a tiny doodle at the top of the printed CV of a potential studio hire. This was unintentional, but when I looked down at it, something just clicked inside. I tore the tiny doodle from the paper and put it in my sketchbook for safekeeping.

In June 2011, I had accidently redrawn the little critter in my notebook, on paper thrown about throughout my apartment and now it was time for vacation from my regular job. That started everything.

I got hold of 2-part resin, silicon, clay, tools and other equipment. I cleared a space in my living room. I went to work on my first prototype.

Two weeks later I had a potential prototype, and a name; the Nom.

I had the backstory, about how the Noms were critters living, hidden in our society, like a modern mix between gremlins and gnomes (gnomes = noms... get it?). They were going to have a basic body, but be able to change eyes, arms, headpieces etc. Ideal for producing limited series and colorways.

By the end of July I was revisiting my prototype and it just felt wrong. Too mechanical. Too little personality.

Now the journey begins to produce and sell these critters to the Designer Toy community. To customize and collaborate, giving life to them - from a doodle to a collectable cutie!

Out of the creative closet comes Mischief and Nasties; Critters of the night, eaters of porridge. They are the NoMs.

The NoMs are the dark cousins of gnomes and goblins. They are everywhere, hiding in your socks drawer, bathing in the gas tank of your car, chewing away on the cables inside your game console… Simply put – they are the bad things that happen.

Unless…

Well, unless you take care of them of course! Feed them, love them and care for them, and they will instead be devoted to you and take care of all your problems.

So, without further a due, let's introduce Foxy, Brownie and Creamy - three critters of the "Horny Nom" series...
