Elm Street Son of Man

Elm St. Son of Man
Part one of a series of seven
Keeping with the horror movie theme, I plan to start a series showcasing different pieces of fine art featuring horror movie characters inn place of the original subjects.

In this case I am taking on the iconic The Son of Man painted in 1964 by Rene Magritte. i have always loved this piece for the striking image of the mysterious man behind the apple.

I felt given the nature of the piece and the subject matter, that Freddy Krueger was perfectly suited.

This will show the different stages involved in my process. I trust you will enjoy.
This was my first attempt at this project.

There were things I liked about it, ultimately, it wasn't the look I wanted.
Really just did not like one turned out.

Too structured, colour was too santa...felt like i should wrap tinsel around the whole thing.
Now this is more like it.

It isn't perfect, however, it is getting there. The look is unique, and the shapes and pose is what I want, I just need to work on the coulouring.
My next step will be to begin to redraw the piece on the computer to digitize the image and get it ready for print.

Stay tuned...
