In several places, mostly in developing countries, there is a 'double trouble' when it comes to water availability. On one side, in drought season water can become highly unavailable for a lot of homes, who do not have enough water to meet even their most basic needs. On the other side, when rain season comes there can be a lot of floods caused by heavy rain which is mostly wasted going down the drain and mixed with sewer water.

In places where this problem exists, there is also a mediocre response from governments who can't seem to be able to implement a wide scale solution that improves water availability and reduces floods. Therefore this project aims to provide a small scale solution which could fix a large scale problem if enough people use it in their homes.

This way a lot of people can collect, filter and store rainwater trough the wet season, thus lowering the volume of water that goes into the sewer system which could reduce floods. And they can make use of this stored water trough the dry season, improving their quality of life.
