Abandoned robot. Step by step digital painting.

This digital painting was a quite free spirited one. All started becoming inspired after watching a picture of "Pozzo di San Patrizio" (San Patricio's well) from 1537 in Italy. I liked the ancient feel mixed with light and color effects caused by all those openings in the walls. Made a quick B&W value study and then colored it to find a proper color palette. I though that that ancient stone look would work properly in a motive contrast situation, placing some HighTech element on the structure. It also occurred to me that that well would be the ideal place to abandon someone or something in order to not see it (or him/her) again. That is why I came to the idea of placing an abandoned robot in the well. The composition scheme follows a Fibonacci spiral and a central point perspective.
After that, It only rested to place some element at the origin of the spiral, because it is where the sight would look for something naturally. At first I thought only to place one more window with a light volume, like a hopeness motive to the abandoned robot. Then, I felt that the picture theme would become stronger if i places some kind of more positive and spiritual element and painted after that a female spirit entring though the window. After a satisfiying color and motive sketch, I started the "cleaning" painting process, adding details using the color palette created in the layers behind.
After cleaning and detailing the two main motives, the painting only lacked a clean background, details and some minor adjustments. The original design from San Patricio well appealed too flat for me, so I changed it to a more organic and compartimented feel and added some tubes and wires to increase the organic/ancient to technological contrast. Th wires tied to the robot were place to increase the depth feeling, because both the robot and the spirit are in the same depth plane and I felt it needed a slight depth push to make the painting better finished. Also, I changed again the head of robot to its original pose to add a more intense dramatic efffect.
