    "Now You See Me" is one of the first works of art that I created at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Being an international student from India, Chicago was a whole new world to me. The culture, the people, the life – it was nothing like I had experienced before. This particular piece is an ode to my life and my background before coming to SAIC. It is a self portrait created using my past memories. The background, being 8ft by 6ft, was inspired by patterns and motives I have grown up looking at. The human figure is a plaster cast of my own body and all the items (laces, notes, bills, cloth, etc) that seem to cover my body are bits and pieces of my past that I kept hoarding. This piece was, in a way, an outlet for me to let go of my past and make way for new memories and experiences. Read Less
