Monument Hill, Fremantle, Western Australia - "Remembrance Day" 2014

Each year at the eleventh hour of the eleventh month we commemorate "Rememberance Day" and those who fought and fell in battle.

A special event in the 2014 service was the laying of 849 hand made wooden crosses by school students.  Each cross bore the name of one of the men who left the city of Fremantle to serve his country during World War One, never to return.

A large United States Naval base facility and infrastructure was established at Fremantle in 1942 and operated until the end of the War against Japan in 1945.
