Project Rescyklinc
Rescyklinc is a selfmade, selfpublished project made in 2012 by graphic design studio and social cooperative Kaiser Boys. It was designed as a compendium of basic information about social entrepreneurship in Poland. The main idea was to show social economy from the perspective of its participants using communicative and well designed forms.
The main elements of the project are: “Niezbędnik ekonomii społecznej” - book with a CD, short film “Każdy może się odnaleźć”, the basic concept of vizual communication system for social economy, rescyklinc.eu website and others forms of promoting the project.
Project was cofinanced by the FIO fund.
“Niezbędnik ekonomii społecznej” is a book made specially for project Rescyklinc. During designing process we tried to merge new trends in graphic/book design with NGO stylistics. We used simple but elegant typeface that corresponds to the topic - ubuntu. The layout based on this typographic and graphic elements from our visual communication system enabled the social economy content to stand out and be functional at the same time.
The printed form of the book corresponds to workshop character of the project. We decided to use eco friendly and cheap materials (recycled cardboard, ecobook paper, 2 colour eco inks). The final result show that in social economy quality is made by people and ideas, not money.
The text for “Niezbędnik ekonomii społecznej” was created in juxtapose to the way social economy is described in Poland. We couldn’t stand the bureaucratic newspeak so we decided to write our own guide through the social entrepreneurship movement. Our text uses simple, understandable language and relate to our own experiences, thoughts and emotions.
In “Niezbędnik ekonomii społecznej” you will also find the basic concept of vizual communication system for social economy. It is a set of specially designed symbols representing the main ideas of social economy. The system is open - it can be built up thanks to its modular structure.
On the CD attached to “Niezbędnik ekonomii społecznej” there is a film titled “Każdy może się odnaleźć”. It is a short movie telling a story about confusion and finding yourself thanks to the power of companion and cooperation. “Każdy może się odnaleźć” stars disabled employees of WTZ in Police (Poland) - active social economy participants.

Rescyklinc was design to be shared. That’s why every part of it was free to take/use: 500 copies of printed “Niezbędnik ekonomii społecznej”, electronic versions of both the book and the movie available on issuu/youtube, vector files of communication system.
We also designed a website (rescyklinc.eu) where people could get all the information, download everything for free and share ideas/opinions.
Rescyklinc was designed as a modern multilayered media pack. It strenght was cohesion, grassroots character, simplicity and new aproach to the topic of social entrepreneurship.
