Café at National Design Centre

(Academic Work)

Located within the National Design Centre in Middle Road, the heart of Singapore's arts and heritage district, lies an urban recluse in which visitors to the establishment, the local workforce, residents and commuters alike can gather and discuss issues over a hot beverage or two.

The former convent and arts academy which had undergone postcolonial architecture-preserving restorative work now serves as an epicenter of design showcase and education in Singapore, promoting creativity and breathing innovation into the local arts scene. The café seeks to enlarge this philosophy by establishing itself as an alcove for individuals of all background to meet, exchange and collaborate.
