This image was created from two linoleum plates that I carved, one for black and one for red. The difficulty was trying to get them to register correctly since the red image was not perfectly carved to the black, initial image. The first five prints are the series of prints I selected after printing many copies on the press, and the last two are artist proofs. In the artist proofs I also experimented with a different paper choice, which gave the piece a darker feel.
The concept was to play with contrast. The contrast of the sharp angles with the organic shapes of the hand, the light of the paper with the darkness of the hand, and the harsh brightly colored shapes with the sickly sweet sundae.
