'SPANISH STYLE'

Spain. My favourite country, and my home for nearly ten years in the '90's. When I was asked to shoot this book showcasing the best of Spanish interiors by Merrell publishers, I jumped at the chance. It resulted in a wonderful three month road-trip round the country with Kate Hill.
As one of the most diverse countries in Europe, Spain presented us with a huge challenge, as it is almost totally regional. The concept of 'Spanish Style' does not really exist. The traditional white villages of Andalucia are as foreign amongst the dark rainy granite manors of Galicia as it's possible to be. The traditional Catalan 'Mas' and the red and green Basque houses are a million miles away from cutting edge Madrid style.
