This project is part of my end of the year exhibition. The piece is part of the ‘Senses – Smell’ project and the idea behind it is that a person will often associate a smell with a place and since I have experienced living in five different countries I decided to use flowers that represent those places and paint the flower onto the maps.
Here are some scans of my sketchbook where I did research around the topic to find inspiration to this piece. I found an artist who inspired me on the technique used to painting the flowers, I also did some media experiments to be sure what kind of paint I would like to use for this. I also had to do background research on the flowers of each country and the composition of the maps in order to know the best way to display them.
