In blue proposal - Museum Apoxyomenos visual identity

Branding
In blue is one of the two proposals for open contest for new visual identity for the Museum Apoxyomenos, Mali Lošinj, Croatia.

The Croatian Apoxyomenos is one of the rare preserved Greek statues which portrays a young athlete who has just completed his exercise and is totally intent on cleaning his body of oil, sweat and dust (Gr. apoxyesis). The statue was raised from the sea in the vicinity of the islet of Vele Orjule near Lošinj, in 1999.
CONCEPT
The “IN BLUE” concept connects past and present by using Greek meander as basic element. I tried to connect ancient Greek to Croatian destination and show the fact that statue was found under the sea.

The mark intends to be dynamic, spreads by line and creates new element or frames in the way it opens or closes the space within graphic material and creates new units, just like the rooms in museum exists like separate units but also connected as one unique experience. In some applications, identity is showing elements inspired by flat display of characters and shapes from Greek art.
