Fruit Fly Don't Bother Me

An Excerpt:

Many young girls fantasize about their weddings while I instead invision my funeral. But we both check off the same thing on the list: Where will it be held? What will be served? Who will be invited? Who will show up unexpectedly and of course “The Dress”?

But the difference between their fairy tale wedding and my impending funeral is reality. You can get married to whom you want and as much you want but you only die once like most modern marriages in the end you are all you have. The fairy tale wedding is exactly that a fairy tale. For one day a couple will construct a utopian world of what their marriage could and won’t resemble. From the spanx to the pristine white dress it’s all a façade continuously repeated couple after couple. By the end of the night the perfect shoes to match the perfect dress are under the table forgotten and the over priced gown from David’s Bridal is wrinkled and stained.  The dress, that took five months to find and eight to pay off lives, a life of a fruit fly- short and insignificant.
