Carving proposal - Museum Apoxyomenos visual identity

This is one of the two proposals for open contest for new visual identity for the Museum Apoxyomenos, Mali Lošinj, Croatia.

The Croatian Apoxyomenos is one of the rare preserved Greek statues which portrays a young athlete who has just completed his exercise and is totally intent on cleaning his body of oil, sweat and dust (Gr. apoxyesis). The statue was raised from the sea in the vicinity of the islet of Vele Orjule near Lošinj, in 1999.
CONCEPT
Proposal is based on idea of carving - it is a process of making a sculpture. The Apoxyomenos sculpture is so beautiful and perfect, I felt it should be represented it with dignity. I thought I'd use typography to get the Museum logotype/sign and ”carve” it just like the author of statue carved Apoxyomenos. I've also used golden ratio to get proportions used mostly in ancient Greek. The sign is acronym AMU which stands for Apoxyomenos Museum.

Digital proposals

Taking photographs is forbiden inside the Museum, all visitors will be asked to leave their mobile phones, tablets and cameras in museum's wardrobe before entering the tour.

Next slides propose that Museum should have their own tablets or mobile phones which visitors get  with their ticket as long as there will be only 20 visitors per tour.
Tablets and phones would have pre-installed Museum's aplications, which would provide a visitor more detailed information about the statue, Greek history and destination where they are. QR codes would be just one way of how information could be reached.

The entrance room
is place where visitors come to sit down, to have a coffe or tea or just relax after the visit. In this room visitors buy the museum ticket and wait for the tour. For entertaiment and additional education visitors can play intearctive games.

GAME I
In game I, Apoxyomenos is an avatar who plays ancient greek sports. For example throwing disc or spear.

GAME II
In game II player throws a big cube and moves according to words written on choosen side of a cube. Big display screen on the wall plays videos according to visitor's  “standing” point (position on the floor).

GOOGLE CARD BOARD GLASSES
Google card board glasses could be used in room where Apoxyomenos stands. Trough glasses visitor can see Apoxyomenos in 3D world inside the Adriatic sea ( location where were statue was found)
