The processes of identity construction are long, complicated and, mostly, absurd. Human communities are not formed by selective affinities, but jostled by historical, political, anthropological, sociological and other (i)logical reasons. When a group of people share a fairly common site, tends to look for similarities to make regions, nations, states, etc., usually defined by geographical impositions: seas, mountains, rivers. Rivers such as the Ebro in the northern Spain, a water flow difficult to wade through but with bridges, an obvious metaphor of willful meeting of neighboring villages. But with the term Riberia we symbolize not separated entities by a waterway, but the similarities between the inhabitants of the both banks that allow us the audacity to baptize his country.
