The project requires me to take historic facts and communicate them in an illustrated manner, hence I chose Greeting Cards as my form for it is a product of the kind of marketing I am criticising.
Holidays have lost their appeal, their significance and their meaning because advertisers have weaved a story of their products along with the actual history of the holiday to sell their products.
I aim at decoding the "ugly truth" of what these holidays have actually become.
Starring: Someone's innocence
Ages ago, Holi was created to celebrate the overcoming of good over evil by burning of the goddess statue, Holika. People would gather around the statue on the eve of Holi and light the statue, made of wood and other combustible substances on fire, then the next morning they would arm themselves with colored powder and water to throw at one another as a symbolic gesture of victory.
Now a days, they do more than that, they get high. People put “bhang” a drug made from Cannabis in their milk and “go crazy” often ending with the groping of women, children getting lost in large crowds and females of all ages being raped,
