Sending postcards at the end of December so that they arrive on the first of January is common practice in Japan. Since I was in Japan for 年末 (the end of the year) and お正月 (the first month of the new year), I decided to design, print and send my own nengajo (new year postcards).
南アフリカ年賀状を送る文化がありません。年末とお正月のときに日本にいましたので、自分で年賀状をデザインして大切な人に送りました。
제가 사는 남아공에서 연하장을 보내는 문화가 거의 없습니다. 12월부터 1월까지 일본에 있어서 연하장을 처음 디자인해보고 친구나 존경하는 디자이너분들께 보냈습니다.
I wanted the postcards to express my own design style, so I chose languages, colors and a style that I personally like.
自分のデザインスタイルを表現される年賀状を作るため、好きな色と言語でデザインしてみました。
이 연하장으로 개인의 디자인 스타일을 표현하고 싶기 때문에 제가 좋아하는 색깔과 언어로 디자인했어요.
I enjoyed writing these. I sent about 60 postcards to Japan Korea, South Africa, England, France and America.
書くのがすごく楽しかったです。日本だけではなく、韓国、南アフリカ、イギリス、フランスとアメリカに送りました。60枚送りました。
쓰는거 되게 즐겼습니다. 60장을 보냈는데 일본뿐만 아니라, 한국, 남아공, 영국, 프랑스와 미국으로 보냈어요.
I completed an internship at a Japanese branding agency and on my last day, I gave some postcards and snacks with handmade labels to my co-workers and the office staff.
東京でインターンシップをしましたが、最後の日でオフィスのみんなさんへ年賀状とお菓子を上げました。
일본 도쿄에서 디자인 인턴십을 했는데 마지막날에 같이 일했던 분들께 엽서랑 과자를 드렸습니다.
