Assignment: design a watch that radically changes character based on its surface treatment.
The form: I balanced soft edges with geometric forms to create a contemporary feel. The flexible plastic strap is designed to be interchangable. The two layers of the watch body secure the strap between them, and can be separated by removing pegs (the dots on each corner).
Classy watch: The white strap, silver body, and gold detailing create a sleek, yet striking look.
Wacky watch: The primary colors and gold body combine to create a playful aesthetic without coming off as childish. I imagine this watch in a museum gift shop, perhaps paired with a Andy Warhol retrospective.
