The objective is to choose three designers and create posters that show the “spirit” of the designers I chose from the master posters of Josef Muller-Brockmann. The posters should be 11x14, includes three biographies of each artist, and examples of their work. I recreated the 1954 concert poster by Josef Muller-Brockmann. I wanted to show it through the eyes of El Lissitzky, Adrian Frutiger, and John Baskerville. I chose El Lissitzky, because he is one of my favorite designers. I also love using geometric shapes, in which he uses these elements in his designs. I believe it gives a lot of creative freedom and using the spirit of Avant Garde and Suprematism. The second designer I chose is Adrian Fruitger. The first reason I chose him is because he is one of my favorite typographers. After finding out about his recent passing, I wanted this to be a tribute to his work and legacy. I want to achieve a powerful design, or at least close to it. The last designer I chose is John Baskerville. I chose this designer for a challenge. He works nothing, but in type and created specimen sheets. I wanted to create and interesting design using his elements of how he created his specimen sheets; neat and symmetrical. At first, I had difficulty trying to think of ideas that would capture the “spirit” of the designers. I researched and gather information before beginning and by the end of the week, a light bulb went off in my head.. Thoughts began coming to my head on how to design these posters and I think I was able to capture each artist. I also had difficulty getting the right elements and the correct typeface at first, however, things began to fall into place. Read Less
