Willow's
Restaurant Design
In artistic terms the design refers to the image of a willow tree, as it survives through the consecutive stages of an imaginary storm. The eye of a storm implies drama and turbulence to which the bar area responds. The drop ceiling structure recalls rolling thunder and pulls into the restaurant through a long linear channel formed by the bar.
Following the eye of the storm comes a period of calm- embodied by the restful grace of the willow tree engraved into the far wall of the main dining room.
Scaling the willow tree is a modern staircase escalation above a calm bed of water enclosed in a floor to ceiling glass curtain.
Reaching the mezzanine level equates the clearing of the storm. Above the dining area hangs a cluster of cylindrical pendants evoking stars in the sky.
The mezzanine floor plan was designed with spacious circulation giving each table its own intimate area, in order to compliment the busy ceiling plan above.
